Microsoft has formed a partnership with European artificial intelligence startup ‘Mistral AI’. Through this partnership, Mistral AI becomes the second company to provide Large Language Models (LLMs) to Microsoft’s cloud platform Azure, following OpenAI. In particular, it received more attention because it was achieved under the pressure of anti-monopoly regulations from the European Union (EU), and it is interpreted that it was a strategic decision by Microsoft to secure Mistral AI under the protection of the EU and target the European market beyond simple investment. Microsoft plans to invest 15 million euros in Mistral AI to further expand into the global market while exploring new commercial opportunities.
