Google plans to promote 1GW solar power project

Google announced that it is collaborating with BlackRock, the world’s largest asset company, to develop a new 1 gigawatt (GW) solar energy project in Taiwan. It will invest capital in Taiwanese solar developer New Green Power as part of efforts to add renewable energy to Taiwan’s local power grid and reduce carbon emissions amid the artificial intelligence (AI) boom. It will provide up to 300 megawatts (MW) of solar energy under a power purchase agreement (PPA). They plan to procure it through the Taiwan Renewable Energy Supply Certificate (T-RECS).
