AMD, a semiconductor design company, has launched its latest AI chip ‘Instinct MI300’ series. The Instinct MI300 series consists of MI300X, a graphics processing unit (GPU), and MI300A, a combination of a central processing unit (CPU) and GPU. Among them, MI300X is said to be a semiconductor that can compete with Nvidia’s ‘H100’, the leader in AI chips, and is attracting attention as Microsoft and Meta have announced that they will use the chip. Nvidia has long dominated the AI chip market, but as cloud providers and technology companies continue to look for alternatives to save costs and provide flexibility, there are hopes that AMD will be able to gain additional market share.
