At Amazon Web Services (AWS) Annual Cloud Computing Conference re:Invent 2022, AWS Announces Chips Designed for High Performance Computing (HPC)
AWS is Amazon’s main revenue center, with nearly three-quarters of Amazon’s operating income reportedly coming from AWS, and AWS is unveiling its own line of advanced chips this time beyond cloud service providers.
According to AWS, the new Graviton3E chip includes a 35% increase in performance for workloads that rely heavily on vector instructions.
AWS chips are expected to be a more cost-effective computing solution compared to chips from companies like Nvidia and Intel, meaning AWS will compete with the likes of Nvidia and Intel in the high-performance computing market. box
