Meta has announced a new AI model called Movie Gen, which can generate realistic video and audio clips based on user prompts. Movie Gen can be used to create custom videos and sounds with simple text input, edit existing videos, or transform personal images into unique videos. Meta will initially offer Movie Gen to a limited number of internal employees and external partners, including filmmakers, and plans to integrate it into its social media apps, including Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, next year. The release of Movie Gen is expected to further intensify the competition between Meta, OpenAI, and Google.
